Hello, and welcome to...Gatewood Engineering And Race Support, or more simply GEARS.
GEARS has come about as a culmination of Drew Gatewood’s 35+ years in the motorcycle industry, and his involvement with modern day to vintage, street and racing, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, along with JRM (Jawa) speedway racing machines. This including decades of motorcycle racing, tuning, sponsoring, and promoting; along with operating a small family owned dealership that allowed Gatewood to personally machine and build literally 100s of the afore mentioned types of engines & transmissions.
After 21 years in business the decision was made to retire from the long hours involved with his dealership (Drew's Motorcycle Service) in order spend some more time with family, and be able to concentrate on the deep rooted interests that had developed over the years. Those being machining, building, and restoring motorcycles, and especially the engines.
Also, in the last few years Gatewood has been fortunate enough to become licensed as AMA(American Motorcyclist Association) and F.I.M. (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme) Technical Steward, and been able to work in that capacity at the annual BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials, and Mike Cook’s Landspeed Shootout; held every September on the world famous Bonneville Salt Flats. He has developed an absolute passion for the job and events, and is planning to have a motorcycle (or two) of his own ready for landspeed competition in the near future.
This licensing has also opened up many new doors of opportunity, which along with Bonneville, has allowed Gatewood to work all around the U.S. at various disciplines such as World Superbike, MotoGP, and various AMA Flattrack motorcycle races.
